If Nobody Were Watching, Who Would You Become? The Life We Build Just to Be Seen
What if nobody were watching you? Nobody to impress. Nobody to make proud. Nobody to prove anything to. Who would you become?
This question has been following me lately, and it made me realize something uncomfortable about my life: for many years, much of what I did came from one simple desire: to be seen.
As a little girl, I wanted my parents to be proud of me. I wanted the best grades. I wanted to be the most talented girl in theater class.
Later, the stage simply became bigger.
I became an entrepreneur. I built brands. I wanted my work to appear in Vogue and other magazines. There was always another mountain to climb, another achievement, another way of saying: Look at me. See what I have done.
But while becoming more visible to the world, I slowly became less visible to myself.
And then life broke the hamster wheel.
When my father suddenly died in a car accident, I did not only lose someone I deeply loved. I also lost one of the people I had spent my entire life trying to make proud.
Without realizing it, I had to face a much bigger question:
Who am I when the person I wanted to see me is no longer here?
That question began a journey that has lasted more than twelve years.
In this episode, I talk about finding my way back to the little girl I was before achievement became so important the girl who loved dancing, singing, writing and creating simply because it made her happy.
Her audience was mostly the hens in my grandmother's garden, and occasionally two dogs who had very little choice about attending my daily performances.
There was no applause, no outcome, no success metric.
There was just joy.
And maybe there is something important for all of us hidden there.
Because underneath so many of the identities we build as adults, there may still be a little girl or boy whispering:
Please see me. Please tell me I matter. Please be proud of me. Please love me.
In this episode, I explore what happens when we stop creating our lives from that pain and begin creating from love instead.
Not because somebody is watching.
Not because it will make us important.
But simply because something inside us feels alive when we do it.
In this episode
We explore the childhood desire to be seen and loved, how creative play can slowly turn into achievement, and what happens when external validation becomes part of our identity.
I also share how losing my father forced me to confront who I was underneath my accomplishments, why writing became part of my journey home, and what I am learning about the difference between building from pain and building from love.
And perhaps most importantly, I invite you to ask yourself:
What did I love before I needed it to become something?

A question for you
After listening, give yourself a few quiet minutes and ask:
If nobody were telling me who I should become, and nobody were watching me, who would I want to discover inside myself?
Do not rush to answer.
Go back to the child you were before everything needed an outcome.
What did you love?
What made you lose track of time?
What would you still create if nobody ever applauded?
Maybe you do not need to become someone new.
Maybe you are simply finding your way home to yourself.
